Abstract

Chapter 3 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 58, no. 8), “Applications of Bibliometrics,” is intended to inspire ideas for the practical use of the tools discussed in the previous chapter and to help practitioners connect information needs with types of bibliometric analyses that can help them solve these needs.

Author Biography

Laura Bredahl

Laura Bredahl is the bibliometrics and research impact librarian at the University of Waterloo where she currently supports university leadership, faculties, departments, and the broader community in research impact and bibliometric analyses, services, use, and governance. She supports strategic planning and decision making, grant proposals, and celebrating research excellence at all levels within the university. Previously, she was a STEM liaison librarian with the Davis Centre Library, at the University of Waterloo. Bredahl is an active member in the bibliometric community in North America and is currently a deputy blog editor with The Bibliomagician, an internationally known blog that deals with topics related to bibliometrics. She serves on the ORCID-CA Governing Committee, a group that provides governance and operational oversight to a Canada-wide consortium of ORCID members administered through the Canadian Research Knowledge Network. She has presented on bibliometric topics at CNI, OCLC, SciVal North American User Group, and the Bibliometrics and Research Impact Community Conference.
